What’s really fucked up is I got scammed by the job recommended by my fucking school which confused me when they pulled all the money

I honestly didn't know that VAs were a thing....I just recently had to quit my job. I'm a stay at home mother of a 6yr old so im limited on what I can do but need an income. I'm really interested in looking into this more. I feel like I can be a great fit for this kind of thing and you get to set your own goals and schedule. Had two scammers (or the same one) send random emails for real companies they claimed I applied to through LinkedIn (I did not), both included suspiciously similar 15+ question technical evaluation questionnaire word docs that could easily take hours to complete... I checked with the actual companies on LinkedIn and they confirmed those were both scammer email addresses / emails and those domains had since been shut down in less than 24 hours after I got them. One even persisted and followed up with a congratulatory email / job onboarding that claimed my skills and experience were SO impressive they went ahead and made an expectation to the questionnaire. Hilariously, the introduction stated most of the onboarding would be conducted "through email" for the first two weeks 🙄🤨🙃 and then a skype meeting would be setup with the CEO. Come on. Of course the onboarding document asked for a SSN.

can a man in his 50s be a VA?

Not sure if I asked this question already but do you think someone new to VA should charge $15 USD hourly or more? Because previously I thought I should charge twice as my old salary. But then I realized that I have to pay fees to receive the money using PayPal, stripe etc then transfer. I also have to consider electricity and internet access that's not even other expenses yet.
